A Brief Intro to Memory Foam Mattresses

The benefits of a memory foam mattress have certainly meant that these particular types of mattresses are becoming one of the most popular. The outstanding feature of these mattresses is the ability to conform to the shape of the body. This provides support where it's needed, relieving pressure points.

The memory foam material can change shape because it responds to body temperature. The result is a more restful sleep, without tossing and turning throughout the night.

Memory Foam Mattress Review

The initial development of memory foam mattresses was designed to relieve the pressure that astronauts experienced when travelling into space. The G force pressure that was experienced was something that NASA were eager to limit. However, the memory foam material was so comfortably and beneficial to use that it soon made its way on to the consumer market.

Memory foam is able to respond very well to changes in body temperature, which in turn means that the material supports areas of the body that need it the most. This helps relieve pressure points and back pain that many people suffer from when using regular innerspring mattresses.

Manufacturers like the Tempurpedic mattress have become extremely popular because of their high-quality memory foam products. Although a pretty hefty purchase, for a mattress that is going to last 10 or 20 years or more, the investment is well worth it.

The prices of memory foam mattresses can vary greatly depending on the density of the memory foam. The higher the density, usually the greater the pressure-relieving capabilities. Some of the discount models on the market will have less that 4lb density, which is hardly enough to notice the benefits of the memory foam, and will not be your best option especially if you suffer from back or hip problems.
